DESCRIPTION:Ernest & Henning is excited to welcome Teddy Swims to the MIDCO Stage at Essentia Health Plaza at The Lights on Friday\, September 13 at 7pm. \nDoors open at 6pm. \nThis concert is SOLD OUT! \nTeddy Swims is a lover who merges honeyed soul with raucous rock energy and pleasing pop hooks and writes nearly all his songs about falling in or out of romantic entanglements. “To me\, that’s just all there is\,” he says. “You’re either making love or crying about it.” The Atlanta native has been tugging at heartstrings since posting a series of covers from his bedroom studio in 2019\, which generated hundreds of millions of views and scored him a deal with Warner Records. \nSwims changed his focus to introspective originals on his EP Unlearning that was released in 2020\, garnering praise from American Songwriter\, Billboard and Rolling Stone\, who named him ‘An Artist to Watch in 2021.’ Following the release of Unlearning\, Swims quickly rose to fame. \nJaten Dimsdale\, aka Teddy Swims\, was born on September 25\, 1992 in Conyers\, Georgia. Teddy got his stage name by combining his childhood nickname “Teddy” (which he attributes to his large frame) with “Swims” (an acronym for “someone who isn’t me sometimes”). In 2018\, he went viral on YouTube\, gaining popularity by posting covers of popular songs. \nFirst cover: Michael Jackson’s “Rock with You.” \nLater covers include Amy Winehouse\, Chris Stapleton\, & Lewis Capaldi. \nMost viewed cover: Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” (126 million views) \nMusically inspired from genres including soul\, R&B\, and country and by artists including Otis Redding\, Marvin Gaye\, and James Brown.
